Building Spiritual Muscle

Pretend you wanted to get into better shape. Your next step would depend on your age, fitness level, health, and access to fitness equipment. What is best for you is different than the next person decides because we all start in different places. Comparing yourself with the strongest person in the gym is a good way to get discouraged and give up. What's true for all people, though, is that the journey begins with one step. Maybe a walk around Mill Lake or using some light weights is the perfect way to start.

The same is true spiritually. God has called all of us to be fully devoted followers of him. That includes you. But since we are all at different places spiritually, the next step in spiritual growth will look different for each of us. Spiritual growth doesn’t happen by accident; it takes intentional steps.
