Thanks to the many of you who have given feedback and ideas through our recent survey and other means. We’ve taken that feedback and come up with a plan for how we’re going to approach the fall - and we’re going to do things a little differently than we’ve done them in the past, so here come some details for you.
First, Kick-off Sunday will happen on September 12 with an outdoor service at 10:00, weather permitting, with a BBQ to follow.
Our main Kids & Middle School Sunday school time will be from 9:00-9:45 each week, while at the same time an Adult education class will be held in the gym for everyone grade 9 and up. Following the Learning Hour, the worship gathering will begin at 10:00. Preschool children will be dismissed partway through the worship gathering, but kids elementary aged and up will remain in the service with their parents. We recognize that this will be a shift for families, but we love how it intentionally includes kids in worship with their parents and grandparents.
What will the adult learning hour look like? It’s our aim in that time to equip us all to think biblically and theologically about the world that we’re in. The past year and a half have caused us all to do quite a lot of thinking about how the world works, how the church works, and how we live out our faith in the world we’re in.
We’re excited to see what this will all look like at RRCC this fall. We also want to make clear that we’re going to try this out for awhile and see how it goes. We may revert back to a two-service format at some point this year, but we love the idea of enhancing the ways in which we equip the church to live on mission in our world.
So, to recap. September 12 is Kick-off Sunday with one outdoor service followed by a BBQ. The learning hour begins Sept 19 at 9:00, followed by the main worship gathering at 10. Contact us if you have any questions, and we look forward to what God will do as we aim to help people find and follow Jesus.
