We honor and remember the 215 Indigenous children found buried at a residential school in Kamloops. Our hearts and prayers are with all affected including the families who had their children taken from them and never got to say goodbye. We lament the injustice perpetrated against Indigenous people – past and present. We are deeply grieved that this injustice was carried out by the church.
This discovery is a devastating call to repentance and action. We pray that God would move our hearts with compassion and a deep desire to see justice take place. As Canadian Christians it is our responsibility to educate ourselves on the evil history and on-going hurt and inequity that exists still today towards Indigenous peoples. We recognize that Ross Road Community Church is located on unceded Stó:lō territory, and we affirm our commitment to loving our neighbours – and hosts – well.
