Mark 10:17-31
The Cost and Benefit of Following Jesus

Whoever you are—whatever is going on in your life these days, whatever is going on in your mind right now—imagine Jesus is looking at you and loving you.

• You may not yet love and trust Jesus. Jesus wants you to be aware of this. Jesus is looking at you right now and loving you.

• You may love and trust Jesus, as I do. We do it so imperfectly. We’ve made many mistakes. Jesus wants me to be aware and he wants you to be aware of this: He is looking at you and loving you!

And he wants you to know that the cost of following him is eternally worth it!

• That’s the bottom line of all three scenes.

• Jesus came to reconcile us to God. To do that, he paid a price none of us can fathom. It cost him!

• Following him is not cheap! There is a cost! We give up all false gods. We own him as our God! And we recognize that everything we are and have belongs to him! We let go of the “good” stuff in the coconut and we joyfully follow wherever he leads us.
