The Prayer Practice will help you learn to set aside dedicated time to intentionally be with God, in order to become like him and partner with him in the world.

Prayer is simply the medium through which we communicate and commune with God. The practice of prayer is learning to set aside dedicated time to intentionally be with God, in order to become like him and partner with him in the world.

What To Expect

We will meet in the upper room at Ross Road on Mondays between January 9th and the 29th (4 weeks) from 7:00-8:45

Transformation happens in community. We will gather, share snacks, watch the session video, and then break into smaller groups to discuss, reflect, and pray.

There is a companion guide with weekly spiritual exercises, recommended reading, and additional resources to help you create life-changing daily rhythms as you apprentice under Jesus.

Those who have the desire and energy to go further can follow along with the recommended reading, companion podcast, and weekly Reach Exercise.

The goal isn’t to “get good” at prayer but to create new daily rhythms and ways of being that open us to God’s presence and peace in more profound ways.

Session Overview:

Week 01: Talking to God

We create a daily prayer rhythm by deciding on a daily time and place to pray, and we pick out a pre-made prayer to talk to God.

Week 02: Talking with God

Week 03: Listening to God

Week 04: Being with God

Recommended Reading: For the Prayer Practice, we are reading Praying Like Monks, Living Like Fools by Tyler Staton together. Each week, you’ll be assigned readings in the Prayer Companion Guide. This reading is not required but is helpful to read alongside the practice. You can either buy your own copy or let us know you want a copy before Jan 1st and we will purchase one for you to give at the first session.
