Small Groups

How do you get connected at Ross Road?

"Within the first few weeks of attending Ross Road, we joined a Small Group and we have loved it ever since! The Small Group for us has been a great place to develop relationships. We’ve been there for each other. The other families have helped us with our new babies and brought meals for us in the first few weeks they were born. When there’s a need, we support one another. This is a place we’ll be for a long time!"

Ever feel like a lone ranger or out of the loop?

Small groups at Ross Road exist to help you grow up to full maturity in your relationship with God and others. Discipleship happens best with a group of friends ‘doing life’ together. You may be doing great in your Christian walk right now, but by being in relationship with fellow believers, you will experience even more of the abundant life Jesus has to offer.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, “Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: if one falls down, his friend can help him up.”

If you are ready to connect with other people, belong to something life-changing, and grow in Christ through relationships with other believers, then maybe it's time to get involved in a small group!

What does a Small Group look like?

A small group is typically made up of six to twelve people who meet regularly during the week to share about their lives, support one another, and study biblical truths. Each group has a host and a leader (or one person may host and lead). Groups meet in a number of different locations around Abbotsford, but typically they meet in homes. Most groups meet weekly during evening hours, but some meet bi-weekly.

What do Small Groups do?

This can vary from group to group, but most groups have a time of fellowship, prayer, Bible or book study, discussion, and life application. Not all groups study the same thing. Some discuss the Sunday message more personally by using our Small Group Questions. Some read and study books about Christian living, and others study books of the Bible.

We also encourage our small groups to serve the community together. Ross Road small groups have reached out to our community in a number of ways. It's amazing what God can do through a group of people as they use their skills, gifts and resources to help those in need.

How do I find a Small Group?

To request a listing of our small groups simply contact Bob Friesen for help in finding a group.

Look through our small group listing and find a group or two that suit your schedule and interests. Then call or email the host or leader to get more information about the group. After you get directions and details from them, just show up and check it out! Hopefully, you’ll feel right at home with the first group you visit, but you may want to visit several groups before you find the group that's right for you. If you feel a little nervous or unsure, just stick with it - you'll be happy you did!
